2023 Annual Meeting

May 9, 2023 - May 11, 2023 · Glen Eyrie Castle
Glen Eyrie
  • This event has passed.

We will gather this May at the historic Glen Eyrie Castle and Conference Center in Colorado Springs, CO from May 9 – May 11 (Tuesday – Thursday).

If you have never had the opportunity to wake up to and wander around Glen Eyrie’s beautiful property, you are in for a treat!

The 2023 Professionals in Christian Philanthropy Conference will begin Tuesday, May 9 at 3 p.m. with registration in the Castle Foyer of the Great Castle at Glen Eyrie Conference Center. A welcome social hour reception, followed by a dinner, will start at 5 p.m. in the same location. The conference will conclude on Thursday, May 11 at noon, and we’ll provide a lunch you can enjoy over continued discussion with colleagues, or take with you on the road if your travel plans so require.

This year we will turn our focus to the multifaceted spiritual aspects of our grantmaking work. It is, perhaps, easier to apply our Christian faith to the kinds of grantmaking we do than it is to apply it to the ways in which we do it. In our time together we will explore questions like: What role does the adjective Christian play in our grantmaking, beyond supporting Christian non-profits? How can we be attentive to spiritual formation in our work and the work of our partners? How can we participate with the Lord in what he is doing in the world within our unique vocations? Why does generosity matter?  Sessions and panels led by PCP members and a couple of outside voices will tee up many of these conversations, but — taking advantage of our retreat-like location — we will also give ample space for reflection and opportunity for us to directly sharpen one another.

Continue reading below for more details on the conference, and then to register.

Program Highlights:

  • The importance of generosity, doing our work with excellence, and the role of faith in grantmaking decisions, with Henry Kaestner (co-founder of and partner at Sovereign’s Capital, co-founder of Faith Driven Entrepreneur and Faith Driven Investor, and founding Board member of Praxis)
  • Breakout sessions on timely topics and shared concerns
  • A panel discussion with Romanita Hairston (CEO of Murdock Trust; founder of MORE320 and previously with WorldVision) and Philip Langford (COO of Dovetail Impact Foundation; previously with International Justice Ministries) on insights from early stages in the journey from leading in the non-profit world to leading in the funder world
  • Supporting and preparing partners through the complexities of leadership transitions, with Neil Hart (Executive Director, Mergon Foundation), who has a new book out on the topic
  • A panel exploring how PCP members are finding ways to support spiritual formation and wellbeing – both for grantee partners and their own teams
  • Frequent roundtable discussions to contextualize and apply insights into the particularities of our own work
  • A landscaping of the “spiritual metrics / kingdom impact” space with James Waters, Director of Kingdom Impact Framework at Eido Research, a UK based organizations that has built impact strategies for over 100 faith-based organizations globally.
  • Glimpses into your PCP colleagues’ hidden talents and interests
  • An evening out networking with peers while enjoying a private dinner and activities at the renowned Flying-W Ranch, including rambling through their gorgeous grounds, axe throwing, archery, roping demonstrations, line dancing, and more!

Additional Opportunities:

In addition to our program, there are other opportunities for PCP members to gather and learn together connected to the conference:

  • The India Collaboration would like to invite PCP members who are interested in learning about the state of India, the church, and a collaborative network called the India Collaboration to join them for a post-PCP dinner presentation on the evening of May 11. Please email David Forshee (david@cornerstonetrust.org) if you are interested.
  • The India Collaboration is also hosting their annual Co-Sponsor event on May 12th at Glen Eyrie — where members of the IC review funded ministry projects, discuss the monitoring and evaluation indices, and pray for the ministry partners — and those keen on going deeper are welcome to join. Please email David Forshee to learn more.
  • Providentially, Talanton is holding an event at Glen Eyrie right before ours, from May 7-9. Consider coming to both, and spending a week at Glen Eyrie! If you would be interested in a discussion with some participants in the Talanton event on the 9th — after their event officially ends and before ours begins — let us know, and we’ll look into it.
  • We encourage any PCP members to organize gatherings of affinity groups, whether formal or informal, to meet either before or after the conference. If you would like to do so, and do so onsite at Glen Eyrie, please let us know as soon as possible so we can work with them to find a suitable space.
